HomeKit Australia has searched the world for a quality USB4 Thunderbolt 4 SSD case. There are some very good external SSD drives available outside Australia but they can cost 2 and 3 times the price of our new 2TB USB4 Thunderbolt SSD external drive.

Constructed of thick dark silver/grey Aluminium alloy, these Thunderbolt cases quickly dissipate heat. We run our own Thunderbolt SSD drives 24/7 and these Thunderbolt drives and Thunderbolt cases always run cool and at worst, barely warm. If you consider another vendor, please ask them how HOT their own Thunderbolt SSD drive runs?

These Thunderbolt cases DO NOT include a Thunderbolt cable. Thunderbolt cables can be ordered separately. Thunderbolt 4 cables are backwardly compatible with USB-C.

Some cases for sale in Australia will not accept USB-C or have notches on the case which will only allow that company's cable to be used. With HomeKit Australia's case, any Thunderbolt 3, Thunderbolt 4 or USB4 cable can be used.

Remember, always verify that the SSD you are buying can genuinely transfer 40Gbps .... most truly only transfer 5Gbps, 10Gbps and if you are very lucky 20Gbps.

We've now added a screen shot of testing via Black Magic Design's Disk Speed Test from one of our 2TB Thunderbolt SSD drives that houses a backup on an Intel iMac. We've tested the same 2TB Thunderbolt 4 SSD drive both with our own Thunderbolt 4 cables and with third-party Thunderbolt 3 cables.

The comparison was astonishing and we would thoroughly recommend that you purchase our Thunderbolt 4 cables. We are happy to provide comparison screenshots.

This 2TB Thunderbolt SSD drive is formatted as a Mac APFS volume for internal testing and verification prior to shipping. We do not initialise our Thunderbolt SSD drives in Windows formats for you - please do not purchase if you are unable to format a drive on your Windows computer.

If you are using a PC or other platform you can simply initialise the SSD once you plug it in. You might be very surprised how little time this takes.

Please remember that Gbps stands for Gigabits per second.

We use Gbps as it is the commonly used measure of data transfer speeds between hardware devices ... storage capacity is typically measured in bytes, whilst data transfer speeds are typically measured in bits.

1GB/s is equivalent of 8Gbps, so 40Gbps is equivalent to a GB data transfer of 5GB/sec.
