Lightweight panels and aerated concrete

Whilst traditionally we've been heavily reliant on traditional high strength concrete and masonry brickwork as a backbone of our construction, in other parts of the world there has been a rapid adoption of newer technologies like Structural Insulated Panels (SIP's), aerated concrete and other lightweight building materials.

We will be going into the potential uses of these products over the coming months, but as a primer it is great to see some of the best technologies being developed here in Australia.

Curtin University in Perth has conducted research over many years into the commercial development of geo-polymer concrete and the CSIRO a number of years ago developed a product known as HySSIL.

You can read more about HySSIL on their website or simply go back to the HomeKit Australia homepage.
